Open, Affordable Robots For Education

Pete Januarius runs a technology training company called Nexgen Codecamp that operates out of the Northern Beaches in Sydney. They partner with Junior and High Schools to bring fun, relevant and in-depth technology training to students (and sometimes teachers) – usually in the form of after school STEM clubs. As he began working with students, he recognized the need for students to build and program robots but many were inaccessible in two ways. One is they were expensive and the other thing is that they were closed systems that kept students from learning how they work. He set out to build a more affordable robot for use in the classroom.
