What You'll Do:

It’s time to celebrate all those great winter holidays by creating fun, unique light-up paper crafts to decorate your home or give as gifts. Building paper circuits are a fantastic, hands-on way to learn electronics while crafting. Join Maker Camp host and STEM educator, Sandy Roberts, for this very special holiday class.

In this workshop you’ll make:
A one-of-a-kind light-up holiday card
An origami gift box that glows when you open it
A fun upcycled “candle” to decorate your home

All participants will receive a free e-book with step-by-step instructions as well.

What You'll Need:

For the workshop you will need:
  • 5 mm LEDs, various colors (or several electric tealights)
  • a 10 mm LED, any color
  • Maker tape, 1/4" copper tape or aluminum foil
  • at least three 3V coin batteries (CR2025 or CR2032)
  • scissors
  • rule
  • pencil
  • glue stick
  • invisible tape
  • assorted scrapbook paper
  • wax paper
  • two cardboard tube (as from a roll of toilet paper)
  • a "dessert" size paper plate
  • Three (3) paperclips (smooth, uncovered, regular size #1)
  • Two (2) brass fasteners (small 1/2 or 3/4 inch)
  • Small needle nose pliers (optional)
  • Awl or small screw driver (optional)
