What inspired you or what is the idea that got you started?

CrafsMan is a wonderful Maker. His Youtube channel is enjoyed by countless folks not only interested in his content material but also in his soothing demeanor and all-around genuine “awsome-nicity”. He’s been often been described as “the Bob Ross of Crafting”.

Many would like to meet him – and he would love to come to a CON or Makerfaire, but He's kinda shy and would rather not reveal his identity. The TeleCrafsMan will Make that a reality for our furry friend!

What is your project about and how does it work?

The TeleCrafsMan is a telepresence robot that will allow him to attend and participate in Makerfaires and craft events and such. He will be able to see everyone and when he talks, the Telepresence Crafsman will open his mouth and move its body. He will be able to participate on a panel or have his own booth at an event. Fans will be able to interact with him in real-time. He is made from the Genuine CrafsMan's fur, hair, and eyes. He's got servos and microcontrollers and a 3D Printed skull and spine.

What did you learn by doing this project?

TinkerCad, puppet making, and electronics.

What impact does your project have on others as well as yourself?

It’s a true labor of love and admiration, and we can’t wait to bring the TeleCrafsMan to life! Our robot "Volt" has shared "robot hugs" (and bad jokes) to thousands of happy humans.

Being able to casually hang out with the CrafsMan is something a lot of folks are looking forward to doing.
