Board Games as a framework for teaching design and maker skills
In my 5th grade Design + Code + Make class I teach a trimester-long unit on board game design. We use board games as a framework for learning the design thinking process, 2D design (the board), 3D design/fabrication (the game pieces), and entrepreneurship (how would they market/find an audience for their game?). I will talk through how I teach the unit and provide examples of student work for anyone who would like to implement a similar project.
